The Vineland Water Utility is committed to providing healthy, clean, and reliable drinking water to its customers. Knowing the materials of your home’s water service line helps us do that! While the City of Vineland staff may have checked your service line in the past, we still need your help to update our records! Providing this information helps protect your household by supporting accurate records, timely communication, and future service line replacement planning.
There are two ways you can check this:
If you have questions about self-inventorying your service line or uploading your photos, you can call a service representative at (856)531-8014.
Use this tool to look up your address in our records to determine if you have a galvanized service line. Simply search for your address below using the search bar at the top-right corner of the map. When registering your account you can bypass the account number field. Just check the box marked "I don't know my account number" to use your email or phone number instead.
Look up your property information using the search box. The search box is shown in the circle in the image to the left.
Click on your address from the drop-down menu below the search box. Your map view will automatically pull to the address you selected and will show your address “dot”.
Once the map shows your address “dot”, the materials of your utility side (Vineland Water owned) service line and private side (customer owned) service line will appear on the left side of your screen. The two sides of the service line may be different materials.
Can’t find your address? Please be sure you have entered it correctly in the search tool. If your address is not represented on the map or no instructions are provided, then our records indicate this address is not associated with a Vineland Water account.
Use the map’s legend to identify your water service line materials. The color of the dot shows your utility service line material. The color of the left half of the dot shows the utility service line material, and the color of the right half shows your private service line material.
Step 1: Gather a strong magnet and a key or coin.
Step 2: Find where your service line enters your building. There will likely be a valve in a basement, crawl space, or utility closet.
Step 3: Test the material of the pipe.
Step 4: Compare your results to these options. If the material is red, blue, or white, the pipe is plastic. If the material is the color of a penny (dull brown or greenish), and a magnet does not stick, the pipe is copper. If the material is dark yellow or golden, the pipe is brass. If the material is dull gray, and a magnet sticks to it, the pipe is galvanized steel. If the material is gray, shines brightly, is easily scraped, and a magnet does NOT stick to it, the pipe is lead.
Step 5: Report your findings by filling out the form here.

Dull brown or greenish: You DO NOT have a lead service line

Grey or silver: You DO have a lead service line that should be replaced.

Grey or silver: You DO have a galvanized steel service line that should be replaced. A magnet will stick to a galvanized steel service line.

Red, blue, black, or white: You DO NOT have lead service line.
If the part of the service line that you own is made of galvanized steel or lead, we will assist you with its replacement as part of our Lead Service Line Replacement Program. The City of Vineland is working with the State of NJ regarding the details of this program on behalf of Vineland Water Utility.
Please check back for more information on the Lead Service Line Replacement Program in the coming months.
In the meantime, please provide your contact information (including your name, address, phone number, and email). Call (856) 531-8014 or email VinelandLSLR@CDMSmith.com. The City of Vineland will reach out with more information before replacements start.
